In July 2008 I discovered Squidoo. If you have not heard of it then have a look at this slideshow:
Then go and have a look herehere.
Here is a list of my lenses:
Always Juggling
AJ is Always Juggling – my Lensography
Janey Lee Grace
Janey is a UK expert in the field of “natural” living. She is also an “Always Juggling” Mum – someone I can really identify with!
Bullying at Primary School
I hope your children are never bullied, but if they are then I hope our experience will help you. In this lens I give information about what we learned. There’s also links to other resources, including a link to my diary, which gives a more personal account of what we went through.
Soapnuts
Have you heard of Soapnuts, the environmentally friendly, natural and CHEAP alternative to commercial detergents? Do you want to use natural products in your home? Then read on.
Love letters of great men
Fans of the film, Sex in the City, keen to buy the book, were disappointed to discover that it was just a figment of the Scriptwriters’ imagination and basically a film prop. Booksellers were frustrated that hundreds of would-be customers have left their stores empty-handed and that they were denied the chance to make some sales. But not any longer!
Auditory Processing Disorder
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) is a little known condition that may affect 10% of children, the majority of whom are undiagnosed. This lens is a “must read” for any parent who is worrying that their child is not doing well at school, but no one can say why.
Otosclerosis
Otosclerosis is a disease of the middle ear that will inevitably lead to hearing loss. It affects about 1 or 2 in 100 people in the UK and approx 10% of people in the USA. It usually develops between the ages of 15 and 35. Sometimes it can develop in younger children. Although the causes of the condition are still unknown, it can be hereditary. This lens outlines the symptoms and treatment of Otosclerosis. How do I know so much about it? Well, I have Otosclerosis.
Thanks for the help
There is so much good advice about lensmaking to be found on Squidoo, SquidU and all the related Squidthis and Squidthat websites, so it is only right that having benefitted from all this advice, it was about time I did something to acknowledge this. One of the reasons for publishing this lens is to say thank you and another is to try and give something back to the people who have helped me.
Does Bullying Run in Families?
Many parents can tell you about the bullying that goes on at their children’s schools. However, how many of us stop to think about the reasons why a child bullies? In many cases we know nothing about the child’s home life and what goes on “behind closed doors”.
Pantomime
In the UK a Pantomime, or “Panto” as it is usually affectionately called, is a musical show, performed around Christmas for the entertainment of millions of families. Many of the stories are based around popular Fairy Tales. This is one Panto fan’s genuine attempt to encourage more global understanding and appreciation of a very Great British tradition – oh yes it is!
David Miliband
It is widely thought that David Miliband is gearing up for a Labour Party leadership challenge, which if successful, will oust Gordon Brown as Prime Minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Squid Etiquette
In our enthusiasm to not only publish our first few lenses but also get traffic, we may forget some very important things or we may do things that actually, if you really stop and think about it, are not very clever. Squidooing is not just about getting traffic. It’s also about building a “Squidoo reputation”. I hope this lens helps you build a good reputation on Squidoo rather than one that is perhaps not so good!
Christmas at AJs
Christmas at AJ’s is quite a traditional affair. There’s Christmas stockings that Santa fills on Christmas Eve, presents under the tree, turkey for lunch, games in the evening and of course we have to watch Dr Who. The only thing that is usually missing is snow!
While I was putting this lens together I started talking to the rest of my family, asking them what Christmas means to them. Then I got talking to my parents about what Christmas was like for them when they were children. Then I started to remember what Christmas was like for me as a child and as I was growing up….. So, this lens has not turned out quite how I originally planned, but that is what I love about Squidoo!
Prince Charles – King in waiting
On 14 November 2008 Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne will be 60. In January 2008 Charles became the world’s longest serving heir apparent, passing the record of 59 years and 73 days previously held by King Edward VII, when he succeeded his mother Queen Victoria. So who is the oldest Heir in the world?
Autumn at AJ’s (including “Squirrel Blog”!)
Autumn in the UK starts in September and goes through until the beginning of December. Autumn is a huge topic to tackle in just one lens, so in order to narrow it down I decided to write something more personal. Each season has its own special meaning at AJ’s because we love our garden and we also enjoy seeing the birds and the other wildlife who visit. So read on and get a little flavour of what Autumn means at AJ’s. Of course once I started researching the lens, various childhood memories came flooding back, so as usual I go off at a tangent at times. It would not be me if I didn’t!
